Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking to add a Project Geologist to our Fort Lauderdale, FL office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private and public sectors.
We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.
The role will be responsible for the overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies. The department is involved in many on-going efforts and continue to utilize top talent to exceed performance expectations.
The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:
• Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
• Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.
• Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
• Conducts research and does investigation work as required.
• Plans and organizes project studies.
• Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
• Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.
• May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS in Geology or related field + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • Due to the nature of this work, United States citizenship is a requirement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Geology or related field
  • Experience with work or project involving Florida Department of Transportation
  • Professional Geologist (PG) Licensure, certifications, and/or accreditations
  • 7+ years of experience performing and leading site investigations that includes soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (i.e., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.), analytical data interpretation and reporting.
  • Understanding of remediation consulting completing environmental investigations and site remediation
  • Project Management experience
  • Proficiency in GIS software.
  • Strong background in technical writing (remedial investigation reports, corrective action studies, etc.)
  • Experience with various remediation technologies; vapor mitigation systems, AS/SVE systems, pump and treat systems, chemical injections, soil blending, thermal remediation, bio-sparge, etc.
  • Experience with groundwater modeling and numeric computing programs
  • Current OSHA 30-Hr Construction Training
  • Experience with programs and/or PFAS investigations
  • Familiarity with State and Federal Environmental Regulations
