What are good side hustles for engineers?

Engineers can pursue side hustles such as freelance CAD drafting, consulting on engineering projects, or creating online courses to share their expertise. Skills in design software, technical writing, and project management can enhance these opportunities, often allowing flexible schedules outside regular work hours.

Can engineering be a part-time job?

Engineering drawing can be pursued as a part-time job, especially for freelance or project-based work such as creating technical sketches or CAD designs. However, many engineering roles require full-time commitment due to the complexity and collaboration involved, and part-time opportunities may be limited depending on the employer and project scope.

What is the difference between Engineering Drawing Part Time vs Engineering Draftsman?

AspectEngineering Drawing Part TimeEngineering Draftsman
CredentialsDiploma or certificate in engineering drawing or CAD softwareDiploma or degree in engineering drawing or CAD
Work EnvironmentPart-time, freelance or project-based roles, often remote or on-siteFull-time or part-time, typically in engineering firms or design departments
Industry UsageUsed across various engineering sectors for specific projectsCommonly employed in architecture, mechanical, or civil engineering firms

Engineering Drawing Part Time roles focus on project-based or flexible work, often requiring specific CAD skills, while Engineering Draftsman positions are more formal, full-time roles in engineering firms. Both involve creating technical drawings but differ mainly in work arrangement and scope.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced engineering managers, especially in industries like oil and gas, aerospace, or technology, can earn $500,000 or more annually. These roles often require advanced skills, leadership responsibilities, and often involve working in senior or executive positions with significant project oversight and decision-making authority.

What jobs can I do if I like drawing?

If you enjoy drawing, you can pursue careers such as architectural drafter, technical illustrator, or CAD technician, which involve creating detailed technical drawings and plans. These roles often require proficiency with design software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks and may involve working in engineering, architecture, or manufacturing environments.
