Job description

Position Overview: The Mechanical Project & Design Engineer is responsible for supporting engineering design efforts across projects while providing technical guidance to project managers and internal teams. This role involves leading MEP design work, reviewing drawings and specifications, and ensuring quality control across deliverables. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in engineering principles, experience with field coordination, and a proactive approach to mentoring and collaboration. Success in this role requires attention to detail, a willingness to work hands-on with evolving project needs, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Support projects on design responsibilities as needed
  • Perform design engineering work for projects that require engineering design
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure technical accuracy and completeness
  • Participate in coordination meetings and team discussions

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and engineering construction administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain it (preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of mechanical system standards and safety codes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems in construction and how they interact with electrical/high and low voltage systems, including:
    • Experience in MEP system design including but not limited to Mission Critical, Commercial, Residential, and Building Automation Systems.
    • Experience in mechanical systems commissioning processes and scripts.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and green building standards.
  • Experience and familiarity with renewable energy technologies.
  • Ability, when required, to travel to job sites within the US to perform due diligence, participate in technical discussions, attend kick off meetings, oversee installations and other relevant site and equipment evaluations.
