Job description

Sentry is seeking a highly motivated and experienced licensed civil engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful project design experience across a range of construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design process, developing construction documents, working with project managers, and ensuring that projects are designed within budget, and to the client's satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design process from concept to construction documents, working closely with clients, consultants, and team members
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and construction documents
  • Oversee and manage construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings and conducting site visits
  • Ensure that projects comply with building codes, regulations, and zoning requirements
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and contractors to resolve design issues and ensure that construction meets design intent
  • Manage project teams and mentor junior staff
  • Attend client meetings, presentations, and project interviews
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure that project files are up-to-date
  • Communicate regularly with clients and team members to ensure that project objectives are being met
  • Continuously improve the design and documentation process to enhance efficiency and quality

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil design and project management
  • Licensed engineer in South Dakota or able to obtain a license within 6 months of hire
  • Proficiency in civil design software 
  • Strong design and technical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with commercial and infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, regulatory approvals etc
