Location: Redmond, Washington (Onsite)
COMPENSATION: $65 - $75 HOURLY
Role Overview
A position is available for an Optical Test Engineer to support a Display Systems Engineering Team. This role involves contributing to hardware projects in a dynamic environment. The work requires developing, executing, and documenting optical test and calibration procedures for display hardware, optical modules, and components.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, execute, and document optical test and calibration procedures for display hardware, optical modules, and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define test and calibration requirements and ensure product quality.
  • Analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and provide actionable feedback to design and manufacturing teams.
  • Maintain and calibrate optical test equipment and ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Program test sequences, automate data collection and analysis, and perform image processing.
  • Perform statistical data analysis from large datasets and provide insights.
  • Debug test sequences, optical prototypes, and electronics.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Master's degree or equivalent experience in Optics, Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or a similar field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in optical testing, measurement, and analysis within a hardware engineering environment. Familiarity with display or electronics manufacturing and build cycles for hardware product development is also required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with optical test equipment such as spectroradiometers, photometers, colorimeters, and autocollimators. The ability to program in Python, C#, or C++ is necessary, along with experience in statistical data analysis using JMP.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of color science, display calibration, and control algorithms.
  • Experience in the display and optics for the AR/VR industry.
  • Experience with optical design/simulation tools such as Zemax or LightTools.
  • Experience with opto-mechanical design tools such as Ansys, Solidworks, or NX.
