Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Water Engineer/Program Manager Lead to join our Water team in the Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, you will work closely with the Water Sector Manager, Mid-Atlantic, and key staff to identify and pursue new opportunities, prepare proposals, and manage client relationships. You will serve as a Program Manager Lead on significant water-related projects, with responsibility for financial performance, staffing, scope, schedule, and overall delivery.
This position also plays a critical leadership role within the team, providing technical direction, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring high-quality project outcomes. *We are open to considering part-time work arrangements for highly qualified candidates, while maintaining accountability for project and client commitments.*Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You'll Lead:

  • Collaborate with the Sector Manager and key management personnel to identify, pursue, and secure water-sector projects.

  • Prepare and support the development of proposals for water clients.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Act as Lead Water Engineer/Program Manager on assigned projects, assuming responsibility for financial management, staffing, scope, and schedule.

  • Serve as a key technical lead in the planning, design, and/or construction of significant water-related projects.

  • Direct the preparation, tracking, and timely submission of project deliverables.

  • Develop and manage project schedules, work plans, and task assignments to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Track additional services and out-of-scope work; communicate with clients, negotiate fees, and support contract modifications as required.

  • Lead and mentor junior team members, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.

  • Maintain responsibility for project quality, ensuring QA/QC processes are completed in accordance with company standards.

  • Support staff development initiatives, including Project Manager training and mentorship.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland, DC and/or Virginia.
  • 15+ years of experience in Project Management activities and leading teams.
  • Project Management Procedures (PMP's) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG's) familiarity a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are required.
  • Client-focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients' toughest challenges.
