About the Role

Our team owns a key part of the customer experience, with a mission to deliver value every time a customer engages with our product. As the Engineering Manager, you will lead the team's engineering function and deliver on ambitious 0-1 roadmaps.

You Will:

  • Manage engineers to design, develop, and deliver scalable architecture, intelligent personalization, and targeted experiences for a range of customer segments.
  • Partner with product and design stakeholders to prioritize the roadmap and translate the company's strategic ambitions into actionable OKRs.
  • Hire and grow the engineering team, recruiting and onboarding experienced engineers.
  • Be a role model for our cultural values and mentor engineers in technical skillset, autonomy, communication, and collaboration.
  • Ensure engineering best practices, quality, and operational excellence across the team.

You Have:

  • An Engineering Manager within commuting distance of the Burnaby, BC office.
  • 10+ years' of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years' experience in an engineering leadership role, with a track record managing small teams and delivering complex, full-stack / front-end-heavy projects.
  • Expertise in at least one general application-development language (Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, etc.), with a preference for React/React Native familiarity given Home's front-end surface.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and judgment for applying AI to developer productivity and, ideally, product features - including enabling safe AI tool adoption on the team.
  • Ability to design secure, scalable, performant software and give constructive feedback on team designs.
  • A track record coaching developers via mentoring, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Strong partnership skills with product and design stakeholders - communicating technical tradeoffs and applying product judgment to reach the best customer outcomes.
  • Experience recruiting and growing engineering teams from the ground up.

Compensation Details: The starting base salary range for this position is typically $152,000 - $190,000 CAD. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
