Job description

Basic Job Function:
This position is responsible for the overall repairs and maintenance of Sea Island property, including but not limited to equipment, furnishings, plumbing, heating and air, and building maintenance. Provide friendly, attentive, and timely service to create an exceptional experience to all of our guests, members, and employees. Promote the Sea Island legacy of warm genuine hospitality while upholding and ensuring compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
Use of Company Vehicle: Designated to drive company vehicle - Class C
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum five to six (5-6) years experience in related field
  • CFC (Chloroflorocarbans/EPA) required and Universal HVAC&R Trade License(s) preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent credentials
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with power and manual hand tools
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Favorable driving history
  • Company policy requires that one must be 18 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review

Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on walk-in and reach-in refrigerators and freezers, ice machines, air handler units, fan coil units and refrigeration racks
  • Works in guestrooms, public areas and back of the house along with preventive maintenance teams
  • Movement of furnishings, materials and equipment associated with engineering tasks, vehicles, shops and administrative areas
  • Use and care for tools, shop equipment, safety equipment, Personal Protective Equipment and other resources to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Housekeeping duties associated with engineering areas, as direct assistance to any Engineering Supervisor, such as laying pipe, pulling wire, cleaning equipment, cleaning walkways, steps, structures etc.
  • Excavation and fill work as required, cleaning, brushing and debris removal, polishing, burnishing, pressure washing, scrapping and other general cleaning duties
  • Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing all mechanical defects and problems with maintenance equipment
  • Assist in the training of employees in proper use of equipment and tools
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on equipment and tools
  • Responsible for maintaining safe and workable equipment
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and parts used in the shop and for equipment repairs
  • Regulating proper use and reporting misuse of equipment by employees to Facilities Management Supervisor(s) or Security
  • Assist and partner with the Security department in maintaining Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Handling chemicals safely following all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) procedures
  • Assist with inventory of supplies used in everyday performance of the shop and equipment
  • Assist others with periodic tasks within engineering shops
  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
  • Ability to do preventative maintenance
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability
  • If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to access difficult to reach areas
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds, roofs and on buildings
  • Must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
