Pape-Dawson's Fort Myers team, formed through the acquisition of GradyMinor, combines decades of local expertise with the resources and reach of one of the nation's leading engineering firms. Our team delivers innovative solutions for multi-family communities, commercial developments, transportation improvements, and critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that support the region's continued growth and resilience.
If you're looking for an opportunity to expand your technical skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and take on increasing project responsibility, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As an Engineer-in-Training III, you'll play an active role in the planning, design, and delivery of diverse land development projects. Working closely with licensed Professional Engineers and project managers, you'll help transform concepts into successful, buildable solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Contributing to the design of commercial, residential, mixed-use, and site development projects from concept through construction.
  • Preparing engineering plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Evaluating design alternatives involving grading, drainage, utilities, roadway alignments, right-of-way constraints, and site development requirements.
  • Developing construction documents and technical designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software.
  • Supporting permitting efforts and coordinating with local agencies and regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including planners, landscape architects, surveyors, and engineers.
  • Reviewing and providing guidance to engineering technicians and junior staff to help ensure quality and consistency.
  • Assisting project managers with project delivery, client coordination, and technical problem-solving.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT/EI) certification.
  • 2+ years of civil engineering experience supporting land development, commercial, residential, or site development projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of land development design principles, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Why Join Pape-Dawson?
  • Work on meaningful projects that directly impact growing communities throughout Southwest Florida.
  • Gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, infrastructure, and public-sector projects.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and industry leaders committed to mentoring and professional development.
  • Build a clear path toward professional licensure and career advancement.
  • Be part of a team that combines local expertise with the resources, technology, and opportunities of a nationally recognized engineering firm.

If you're ready to take the next step in your engineering career and contribute to projects that shape the future of Southwest Florida, we encourage you to apply.
