Step into Your New Role
Kleinfelder is looking for ambitious engineers to join our team as Associate Engineers within our Detroit MI office. The Associate Engineer may be required to perform activities such as cost estimating, field measurements, preparation and correction of field drawings, ordering material, initiation of permits, preparing operating and maintenance instructions, data analysis, compilation and reporting of technical data and performance of other related duties.
As an Associate Engineer, you will be expected to:
  • Collect data and gather information or documents
  • Perform standard computations and analysis
  • Perform basic design tasks
  • Prepare drawings and visual aids
  • Assist on other tasks such as: preparation of material specification/selection, technical reports, plans and procedures, drawings, permit applications, project documentation, and computer aided design (CAD) work
  • Observe construction activities
  • Acquire basic knowledge and develop skills in assigned workstreams
  • Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established Kleinfelder, industry and client standards, specifications, and processes to perform assigned tasks
  • Perform routine technical work not requiring previous experience
  • Acquire understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Exercise limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work
  • Demonstrate sound engineering judgment

Consideration for Associate Engineer position requires the following certifications or experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 0 - 3 years relevant work experience
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification (Desired)
  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software (Desired)
  • Technical communication
  • Proficient use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Utility business understanding (Desired)
