AspectEngineer Fe Exam PassedCivil Technician
Required CredentialsFe exam completion, engineering degreeAssociate degree or diploma in civil technology
Work EnvironmentDesign, planning, project managementFieldwork, drafting, site supervision
Employer & Industry UsageEngineering firms, consulting companiesConstruction companies, government agencies

The main difference is that an Engineer Fe Exam Passed indicates a candidate has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, qualifying them for engineering roles, whereas a Civil Technician typically has technical training and supports engineering projects but does not hold an engineering license. The Engineer Fe status often leads to higher responsibility and career advancement in civil engineering fields.

Does passing the engineer FE exam make you an engineer?

Passing the Engineer FE exam is a key step toward becoming a licensed professional engineer, but it does not automatically grant the title of engineer. It demonstrates competency in engineering principles and is often required for licensure, which typically involves additional work experience and application processes. The FE exam is considered an entry-level exam for engineering licensure in many regions.

What percent of engineers pass the FE exam?

The pass rate for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, which is a common step for engineers seeking licensure, typically ranges from 70% to 80%. This rate can vary depending on the engineering discipline and exam administration, but passing the FE exam is generally achievable with proper preparation and review of relevant engineering principles and tools.
