Engineer Controls Engineer Jobs in Traverse City, MI

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and support control systems for custom industrial equipment and automation projects. This engineer will focus on PLC programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

• Travel: 30%
• Primarily all in the Midwest
• 2 weeks overnight max at a time
• Expenses covered + $60/day per diem

• Design, program, and modify PLC-based control systems, primarily using Allen-Bradley.
• Develop and support HMIs, electrical controls, and automation systems.
• Travel to support installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Troubleshoot system issues and implement real-time improvements.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians, and customers to ensure optimal system performance.
• Provide on-site and remote support throughout the project lifecycle.

• 3+ years of experience in controls engineering or automation.
• PLC programming - Allen Bradley
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics (AutoCAD E, eplan, Solidworks E).
• Comfortability and experience working with customers in a fast paced environment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with robotics, such as FANUC or ABB.
• Exposure to Siemens PLCs.
• Familiarity with hydraulics, machining, or metal removal processes.
• Experience with assembly, testing, or commissioning of custom equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Traverse City, MI.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
