The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical systems and be proficient in various engineering software tools. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for a range of applications, ensuring that projects meet both technical specifications and deadlines. **No sponsorship available**

This position involves both technical design and hands-on implementation work, with a focus on conveyor and related equipment control.

Electrical Controls Engineer Job Duties:

  • Design & Implementation of Control Systems:
  • Design control panels using software like AutoCAD.
  • Generate or modify PLC and HMI programs to control equipment operations.
  • Develop and program control sequencing and speed modulation for three-phase motors.
  • Collaboration & Vendor Coordination:
  • Work with vendors to coordinate interfaces and equipment needs.
  • Support the building of control panels and ensure compliance with designs.
  • Customer Support & Training:
  • Provide on-site and off-site customer support as needed.
  • Offer training to clients on control systems and equipment.
  • Travel & Overtime:
  • Travel 25-40% of the time for installation, troubleshooting, or training.
  • Work extensive overtime during peak periods or project deadlines.
  • Parts Management:
  • Identify and requisition parts for system installations and repairs.
  • Additional Duties:
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager or Electrical Engineering Manager.

Electrical Controls Engineer Minimum Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Post-high school electrical schooling (formal or through experience) with a focus on low voltage DC and AC circuits (single and three-phase).
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of basic electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.
  • Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and HMI programming.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with teams and interface with both customers and vendors.
  • Self-Initiative: Desire to learn continuously and stay updated with new technologies.

Electrical Controls Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (BS or AAS), preferably with an emphasis on Industrial Control Systems.
  • Programming Experience: Knowledge of computer programming languages is a plus.
  • PLC & HMI Programming Expertise: Especially experience with Rockwell Automation products (Siemens experience is also valuable).
  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards: Familiarity with UL508 (safety standards for industrial control equipment) and NFPA79 (electrical standards for industrial machinery).
