ABOUT THE ROLE
The Environmental Engineer will provide environmental compliance and permitting technical support for the company. The Environmental Engineer must have ability to provide environmental permitting support for new development opportunities in power generation and storage project. The Engineer is required to develop and administer policies and procedures that promote environmental protection and promote healthy and safe facilities for employees and visitors. Other project support such as siting, field assessments, and community outreach will also be required.

Essential Functions
  • Manage environmental monitoring and compliance studies and oversee the preparation of reports and permit applications
  • Prepare and file environmental compliance reports, organizing documents
  • Provide environmental project management support
  • Provide environmental permitting and technical support to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
  • Communicate effectively about environmental permitting and issues
  • Lead negotiations with local, county, state, and federal authorities for projects
  • Coordinate oversight of environmental compliance
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks on project sites
  • Support root cause analysis of environmental events
  • Provide recommended solutions to environmental challenges to minimize environmental impact
  • Conduct inspections, field surveys, assessments, project investigations and prepares/reviews environmental documents to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal environmental laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Assist Project Manager in requesting, reviewing, and securing bids, developing budgets, schedules and monitoring progress.
  • Communicate the implications of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act (BGEPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National
  • Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on projects
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
  • Experience with environmental siting, licensing, permitting and due diligence analyses
  • Project planning, budgeting and schedule management experience
  • Successful experience negotiating with federal, state and local regulatory agencies
  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar technical discipline

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to support multiple projects with multifaceted environmental and regulatory issues
  • Proven ability to assist in comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews for projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to develop and manage vendor contracts, purchase orders and invoices
  • Ability to work extended hours
