Job description

Job Title: Civil Engineer

Job Description

This Civil Engineer role focuses on land and site development for residential and commercial projects in the Herndon, VA area. You will design and draft site plans, subdivision plans, plats, and associated construction drawings while collaborating closely with project teams. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of land development projects and grow professionally in a supportive, goal-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft site plans, subdivision plans, plats, and associated construction drawings for residential and commercial land development projects.
  • Prepare and refine site development layouts, including grading plans and overall site plan configurations.
  • Put together detailed site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards.
  • Assist Project Managers and senior engineers with the planning and design of hydraulic and stormwater collection systems.
  • Create and run electronic hydraulic models for water and sewer systems, including both static and extended period simulations.
  • Perform stormwater management design, including drainage and drainage system layout for land development projects.
  • Incorporate erosion and sediment control measures into site and grading plans in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with team members in a flexible, open office environment to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
  • Support the preparation and revision of civil design documents throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to problem-solving discussions and provide input on design improvements and efficiencies.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 2–3+ years of experience working on land and site development design projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design and drafting.
  • Ability to assist with the design of hydraulic and stormwater collection systems.
  • EIT Certification or desire to obtain is preferred, not required

Pay and Benefits
