Job Description Role: Construction Officer - Civil Location: Vernon, BC Duration: June 16, 2025 - June 16, 2026 Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10 hours/day Rate: Up to $73.44/hour INC or $60.69/hour T4 Position Overview: Seeking a Construction Officer to join a multidisciplinary team responsible for overseeing and coordinating on-site activities for a transmission line upgrade project, including road and crane pad construction. Key Responsibilities: Act as a construction site coordinator and inspector on large-scale or multiple civil, electrical, and/or mechanical infrastructure projects. Conduct detailed inspections of construction work related to substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric facilities

Ensure compliance with building and safety codes, project specifications, and timelines. Prioritize site safety through active monitoring and Safe Work Observations. Conduct or coordinate on-site testing, surveying, and estimating activities using sound interpretation of engineering drawings.

Assist with contract or work order administration in collaboration with internal teams and contractors, ensuring deliverables are met in terms of work quality, materials, progress, and budget. Provide subject matter expertise on complex technical issues and contribute to team development. Respond to construction inquiries from internal stakeholders and third parties using strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications: Minimum 7 years of construction experience or equivalent. Diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology or completion of relevant trades/apprenticeship programs. Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (especially Excel). Strong understanding of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards and WorkSafe regulations. Training in contract law.

Advanced English communication skills, both written and spoken. Willingness to travel and work at remote sites across BC. Preferred Assets: Over 10 years of experience in a civil trade (e.g., heavy equipment operator) or a National Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology

Intermediate First Aid certification. Experience with substation and/or road construction projects. Knowledge of Site Safety Coordination and Multi-Employer WorkSafe regulations.
