Job description

Job Title: Engine Mechanic

Job Description

Join a leading service and repair division of a large engine manufacturer as an Engine Mechanic. This role involves true overhauls of large-scale natural gas engines, including disassembling, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and reassembling engines. The engines typically include Caterpillar and Superior engines, such as C18, C30, Cat 3500, Cat 3600, and Waukesha 7042 and 7044 models. Utilization of OD and ID micrometers and other precision tooling is essential for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete overhauls of large-scale natural gas engines.
  • Disassemble, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble engines.
  • Work with large power-generating engines like Caterpillar and Superior models.
  • Utilize OD and ID micrometers and other precision tooling.

Essential Skills

  • 7+ years of experience with natural gas compression engines.
  • Experience working on Caterpillar, Superior, or Waukesha engines.
  • Proficient in engine overhauls within a shop environment.
  • Experience with OD and ID micrometers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in engine commissioning.
  • Skills in welding and machining.
  • Experience with industrial generators.
  • Previous experience at companies such as Caterpillar, Superior, or Waukesha.

Work Environment

The position is based in a large, clean, and organized manufacturing shop with multiple bays designated for different segments such as mechanic, welding, disassembly, machinist, shipping, receiving, and tool room areas. The environment is open-air and non-climate-controlled, but equipped with large fans. The team comprises 7 mechanics, 3 warehouse staff, 7 CNC and manual machinists, and 4 welders, among others. Safety gear such as steel toes, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses is required. The standard shift is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the possibility to start at 5:00 am or 6:00 am. Typically, employees work later, accumulating 50 hours per week, with possible weekends depending on production demands. No night shifts are available.

The pay range for this position is $26.37 - $29.73/hr.
