Job description

Elite Service Experts, a leading facilities services provider in Northern California, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Shop Manager / Small Engine Mechanic. As a Shop Manager and Small Engine Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing equipment, managing warehouse operations, and ensuring quality and efficiency in our daily operations. Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain gasoline engines used to power equipment such as portable saws, lawn mowers, generators, and compressors.
  • Test and inspect engines to determine malfunctions, locate missing and broken parts, and verify repairs using diagnostic instruments.
  • Prepare cost estimates for repairs.
  • Adjust points, valves, carburetors, distributors, and spark plug gaps using feeler gauges.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as magnetos, water pumps, gears, pistons, and carburetors using hand tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning and oiling parts, honing cylinders, and tuning ignition systems.
  • Receive, process, and unload incoming stock and materials.
  • Verify and document incoming product counts.
  • Tag and label incoming stock.
  • Record and report all damaged stock.
  • Perform inventory controls and maintain high standards for stock audits.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Follow strict safety and compliance procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in small engine service and repair. Welding experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager in a commercial or industrial capacity.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Proficient English language skills (Speaking, Reading, Writing).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability to understand and work with smartphone technology and Microsoft computer software.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to plumbing, construction, and commercial building systems.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working on feet for 8 hours a day.
  • Able to lift 80 pounds.
  • Able to climb a step stool or ladder and reach above shoulders.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, which may include weekends, holidays, and overtime.
