Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities

As a Diesel Mechanic at Davis Cartage Co., you will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks and diesel-powered equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and DOT-compliant fleet operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and engine performance issues

  • Inspecting and repairing diesel engines used in commercial trucks

  • Disassembling engines to identify worn or damaged components

  • Rebuilding diesel engines and replacing defective parts

  • Repairing or replacing pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, and related engine components

  • Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections

  • Using precision measuring instruments and specialized diagnostic equipment

  • Operating machine tools, engine lathes, and boring equipment

  • Welding and cutting components using arc welding and flame cutting equipment when required

  • Completing repair documentation accurately

  • Ensuring all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards
