Small Engine Department Lead Full-Time

E amp;H Ace Hardware is seeking an experienced Small Engine Department Lead to oversee daily operations of our small engine department. This leadership role focuses on managing the team, ensuring top-notch customer service, maintaining department standards, and driving sales and service profitability.


What You’ll Do:

Department Management

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities including repairs, maintenance, and parts sales

  • Meet or exceed productivity, quality, and profitability goals

  • Manage technician scheduling and workloads to optimize efficiency

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, orders, and inventory

  • Keep the department organized, clean, and safe

Customer Service

  • Deliver world-class service to every customer

  • Address inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally

  • Provide expert advice on equipment repairs, maintenance, and purchases

  • Collaborate with sales team to promote products and services

Team Leadership

  • Train, guide, and support the small engine team

  • Monitor performance, give feedback, and assist with reviews alongside the Service Manager

  • Foster a positive, team-focused work environment encouraging continuous improvement

Technical Expertise

  • Diagnose and repair small engine equipment to support the team as needed

  • Stay current on small engine technology, equipment, and repair methods

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and protocols

Inventory amp; Sales

  • Monitor parts inventory and place orders to maintain adequate stock

  • Track and manage department expenses within budget

  • Work with vendors to negotiate pricing and maintain strong relationships


What You’ll Bring:

Requirements:
  • Satisfactory background check prior to employment

  • Willingness to travel up to 5 days annually for training

  • Must obtain Stihl Silver Certification within 1 year


Education amp; Experience:
  • High school diploma required; technical certifications preferred

  • 3-5 years’ experience in small engine repair or department leadership
