Job description

Overview

RTX, the world\u2019s largest aerospace and defense company, brings together leading businesses in aerospace and defense. Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures and services aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, with a history of innovation spanning over 100 years. This role is based at the Delta TechOps facility in Atlanta, Georgia and supports the Engine Life Management Team (ELMT) within the Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering organization.

What You Will Do
  • Participate in engine teardown investigations, hardware distress data collection and trending, and return-to-service activities for non-conforming hardware.
  • Serve as an onsite extension of cognizant Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs), providing engineering data and acting as an engineering liaison across the organization at a key customer site within the global GTF Network.
  • Work with IPT members and regulatory authorities on hardware field investigations to drive root cause determination and recommend product improvements.
  • Monitor, characterize, and trend part condition data to support durability, safety, limits expansion, and repair activities.
  • Interface with Engine Centers in Atlanta, GA; Columbus, GA; and West Palm Beach, FL to understand non-conformances and obtain distress characterization.
  • Interpret OEM and aftermarket engineering data (drawings, MRO manuals, field history) to understand original design intent and create technical data to return non-conforming hardware to service.
  • Apply mechanical design principles to complete tolerance stack-ups, balance calculations, bearing area, thread shear capability, and related analyses.
  • Establish validation substantiation requirements for technical dialog or engineering authorizations; obtain internal technical approvals from structures, CIPT design, materials, or Aero; coordinate with FAA regulatory approvals as needed.
  • Develop or improve design processes and Engineering Standard Work; interface with engine center staff, project engineering, and program management to align priorities and address programmatic issues.
  • Cultivate relationships with shop floor inspectors, powerplant engineers, and production engineers to improve customer experience.
  • Provide on-site technical support to engine center operations through interpretation of technical data and communication of engineering requests.
  • Support engineering goals of improving flight safety, reducing Aircraft on Ground (AOG) occurrences, and maturing the PW1000G MRO network.
What You Will Learn

This position offers hands-on experience with engine run hardware and the assembly/disassembly processes. You will gain insights into engine functionality and business operations, with a direct engineering link to the commercial aftermarket organization.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 8+ years of engineering experience with a Bachelorโ€™s degree or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
  • 10% travel.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Advanced degree and/or experience in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in an aerospace overhaul environment (assembly/disassembly of aircraft power plants).
  • Familiarity with Delta TechOps organization, processes, or operations.
  • Experience with Engine Component Design or Repair Development.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, P\u0026W Quality Systems, configuration management processes.
Role Type and Benefits

This is an onsite role. Role type guidance and expectations are provided during the recruiting process. The salary range is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD.
