Job description

Wage Range: $33.28 - $35.19/hour + overtime when required 

Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leading manufacturer of emissions-certified powertrains specializing in customized and fully integrated turnkey solutions for the leading global equipment manufacturers in the industrial, transportation, and energy markets manufacturers. Our facilities are housed in one million square feet of engineering, assembly, operations, and distribution space across seven facilities. We are positioned to meet the high production volumes of our customers with added capacity for growth.

Summary: 

Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, the Engineering Technician III supports the engine calibration and test engineering teams to develop and execute tests, install, and operate test articles and equipment, collect data associated with engine calibration development, engine validation testing, and component testing. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Installation of test articles (engines and components) onto test stands, including the fabrication of test fixtures, mounting, adapting hardware, and fluid systems for efficient diagnostic operation 
  • Operation of engines in test cells running manual and automated test cycles to diagnose and troubleshoot engine, electrical, and test cell instrumentation during test programs 
  • Perform engine builds, maintenance, engine teardown, and inspection to complete and record precision engine measurements 
  • Utilize PSI computer software to update the data acquisition system to specified test parameters and submit timely, concise test reports indicating test setup, testing methods, and data summary 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate product/manufacturing process issues and assist in developing solutions 
  • Perform preventative maintenance of lab equipment 
  • As needed, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds of materials to assist in production 
  • Learn and execute team lifts for items over 40 pounds 
  • Adhere to all safety procedures ,including the use of personal protective equipment, navigating the plant with alert behavior, operating power tools and machines according to instructions, and disposing of waste properly 
  • All other duties as assigned by management 

Requirements: 

  • Two-year technical degree in automotive technology or a related field is preferred. May substitute direct applicable work experience on a year-for-year basis, which built competencies and subject matter expertise with internal combustion engine testing, development, and/or automotive testing diagnostics 
  • Experience with precision tools required in the inspections of engine teardowns and rebuilds 
  • Established capability to understand electronic control systems and DC electrical systems, reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams with proven ability to use basic electronic and mechanical diagnostic tools, following troubleshooting diagrams, and interpreting diagnostic codes 
  • Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • ASE or other similar certifications 
  • Experience with testing automation software and interfacing with data acquisition systems 
  • Skilled at MIG, TIG, acetylene welding, and fabrication of steel and stainless steel 
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Work well within a team environment
