Joseph Buick GMC is seeking a skilled and driven Diesel Engine Technician to join our growing service team. With a massive local market for Duramax diesel trucks, commercial fleets, our shop offers an incredible volume of steady, high-paying work.

We are looking for a specialist who understands the complexities of modern diesel systems. While GM/Duramax experience is a major plus, we are fully prepared to fast-track factory training and certifications for an experienced diesel tech looking to elevate their career in a stable, family-owned dealership environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Diagnostics: Diagnose complex diesel engine performance issues, driveability concerns, and emissions/exhaust aftertreatment systems (DEF).
  • Major & Minor Repairs: Perform everything from routine maintenance and component replacements to complete engine tear-downs, rebuilds, and replacements.
  • Electrical & Hydraulic Systems: Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty electrical networks, module programming, and related mechanical systems.
  • Inspection & Documentation: Conduct thorough multi-point inspections, clearly detailing the cause and correction for service advisors and fleet clients.
  • Quality Assurance: Road-test vehicles to verify repairs meet strict safety and manufacturer specifications.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain communication with the parts department and service desk to keep cycle times low and efficiency high.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience diagnosing and repairing light-to-medium duty diesel engines (Duramax, Powerstroke, Cummins, etc.).
  • Certifications: ASE Diesel certifications (A9, T2, etc.) or manufacturer-specific training is highly preferred.
  • Tools: Must possess a complete inventory of personal technician tools appropriate for heavy mechanical work.
  • Skills: High proficiency with modern scan tools, digital multi-meters, and reading complex wiring diagrams.
  • Credentials: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Background: Must be willing to undergo standard pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug test.
