The Opportunity
Command Fleet Integrity and Lead a High-Performance Mechanical Team.
BRIXCO Construction, Inc. is seeking a high-caliber Heavy Equipment Fleet Superintendent & Shop Foreman to serve as the premier mechanical authority for our Bay Area operations. Specializing in high-stakes civil infrastructure, deep utilities, and mass sitework, our field velocity is directly dictated by the uptime and absolute readiness of our assets.
This position is designed for an autonomous leader who wants to step out of a standard flat-rate bay and take complete command of a fast-paced assets program. You will lead shop and field workflows, mentor a dedicated crew of diesel technicians, and manage a robust preventative maintenance engine. If you are a veteran master mechanic who demands mechanical excellence, enforces strict shop safety, and wants a stable position with a competitive weekly yield, BRIXCO Construction provides the elite tier platform your career deserves.
What You Will Be Doing
You will hold ultimate accountability for the physical lifecycle, tracking systems, and safety protocols of our heavy earthmoving equipment and commercial truck fleet:
- Supply Chain & Vendor Controls: Oversee parts inventory cycles and manage critical relationships with OEM parts suppliers and specialized external vendors to optimize repair timelines.
- Regulatory OSHA Stewardship: Enforce absolute compliance with Cal/OSHA workplace standards, ensuring all tooling, hazardous material processing, and heavy machine operations occur within a safe shop environment.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
- Technical Industry Tenure: Minimum of 7 years of progressive, hands-on experience executing structural repairs on heavy construction equipment and commercial vehicles.
- Leadership Command: Proven capacity to manage professional shop logistics, direct mechanical crews, and prioritize incoming work orders independently.
- System Fluency: High-level proficiency diagnosing and rebuilding diesel powertrains, high-pressure hydraulic arrays, and complex multiplex electrical systems.
- Computer Literacy: Functional capability using modern fleet maintenance tracking software and basic administrative software packages.
- Licensure & Equipment Mastery: Valid Driver's License coupled with the proven capability to safely maneuver forklifts, heavy-duty service trucks, and commercial machinery.
- Communication Mastery: Strong interpersonal skills required to manage internal team mechanics and coordinate technical field requests seamlessly.
Preferred Assets:
- Prior supervisory or foreman-level experience directly within a civil construction, mass grading, or utility infrastructure environment.
- An active Commercial Driverโs License (CDL Class A or B).
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish to optimize team communication and training dynamics.
- Referenceable track record of training, evaluation, and moving junior or apprentice technicians into high-yield lead roles.
- Workforce & Industry Data
- Recruitment modeling and operational planning require accurate evaluation of competitive market demographics. According to national labor data for heavy equipment mechanics and maintenance foremen within the heavy civil sector:
- Gender Demographics: The industrial machinery and heavy truck repair sector remains overwhelmingly male, with men comprising approximately 98.4% of active technicians, while women represent 1.6% of the workforce.
- Racial Representation: The heavy equipment maintenance workforce reflects the following distribution nationwide: White (78.2%), Hispanic or Latino (12.4%), Black or African American (6.8%), and Asian (2.6%).
- Market Position: Shop Foremen possessing cross-functional technical mastery of both vocational transport fleets (Class 8) and advanced hydraulic earthwork machinery represent less than 5% of the active trade pool in the Bay Area, making this position critical to corporate operations and highly competitive in total reward valuations.
Compensation & Premium Benefits
We reward top-tier mechanical leadership and bottom-line fleet asset preservation with an exceptional total rewards package:
- Top-Tier Earnings: Highly competitive hourly pay ranging from $40.00 โ $60.00 per hour strictly based on your experience and equipment scope.
