Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Procedure Writer/Technical Writer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.
Work Location: Aiken, SC
Procedure Writer/Technical Writer-
The Procedure/Technical Writer will support a time-sensitive initiative focused on evaluating and updating site procedures in response to potential changes to DOE Orders and Directives. This is a short-term, high-impact engagement requiring candidates who can quickly assess complex documentation environments and execute with precision in a compliance-driven setting.
Duties:
  • Review and evaluate existing site procedures and technical documentation.
  • Assess alignment with current and potential changes to DOE Orders and Directives.
  • Identify procedures requiring revision, consolidation, or removal.
  • Update and rewrite procedures to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with site stakeholders and SMEs to validate procedural changes.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory, operational, and quality standards.
  • Support rapid turnaround timelines in a fast-paced project environment.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of five (5) + years of proven experience as a Policy Writer, Procedure Writer, Technical Writer, or similar role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of English grammar and style.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information and processes into clear, concise, and engaging content for various audiences.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Strong interviewing and research skills to gather information from SMEs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Prior experience supporting DOE sites or federal nuclear environments.
  • Familiarity with procedure lifecycle management and governance processes.
  • Experience working on short-term, high-volume documentation review efforts.
  • DOE complex, including SRS experience in developing/revising procedures.
  • Active or prior security clearance.
