Job description

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems.


The Application Engineer I will be responsible to coordinate the planning and design of control systems to include programming and system configuration.


โ€ข Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems.
โ€ข Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans
โ€ข The ability to identify mechanical equipment on drawings the following: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHUโ€™s, FCUโ€™s, VAVโ€™s, and EFโ€™s.
โ€ข Understand basic electrical control circuits,
โ€ข Be proficient and utilize Visio and or AutoCAD.
โ€ข Understand controls networking principles.
โ€ข Display knowledge of controls hardware
โ€ข Create P&IDโ€™s based on contract drawings P&IDโ€™s
โ€ข Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
โ€ข Understand simple installation methods, final inspection and testing, customer acceptance and training.
โ€ข Ability to implementation systems graphics per project scope, create control algorithms, source codes and implement graphics.
โ€ข Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
โ€ข Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for control system installations.


โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
โ€ข 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 โ€“ Niagara N4 Certified.
โ€ข Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta a plus.
โ€ข Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants
โ€ข Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
โ€ข Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover)
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance desired.
โ€ข EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.
