Job description

Position Summary...The Senior Manager, Energy Systems Engineering will develop and own technical deployment standards for complex infrastructure across Walmart's portfolio. You will translate engineering requirements into clear, repeatable specifications, installation guidance, inspection criteria, commissioning requirements, and operational turnover standards.
This is a hands-on, field oriented role requiring approximately 50% travel. You will inspect active deployments, validate electrical and mechanical installations against established expectations, identify execution gaps, and continuously improve standards based on field experience, evolving technologies, and operational requirements. You will partner across Engineering, Construction, Operations, Procurement, and external vendors to drive safe, consistent execution at scale.
The Walmart Energy team oversees one of the largest commercial energy portfolios nationwide, including stores, clubs, and supply chain facilities. The team focuses on optimizing energy costs, advancing renewable energy investments, and enhancing operational resilience through strategic market analysis, advanced analytics, and innovative technologies. Collaborating with Finance, Realty, Global Tech, Legal, and Operations, the team develops scalable energy solutions aligned with business goals and regulatory standards.   • Develop and own technical specifications, installation standards, inspection criteria, commissioning requirements, documentation standards, and operational turnover requirements for infrastructure deployments.
  • Translate electrical and mechanical engineering requirements into practical, repeatable field guidance, checklists, acceptance criteria, scopes of work.
  • Conduct frequent site visits during construction, installation, commissioning, and turnover to validate safety, quality, workmanship, compliance with established standards.
  • Identify field issues, recurring defects, execution risks; coordinate resolution with Engineering, Construction, contractors, vendors, and other partners.
  • Incorporate field lessons learned, technology changes, and operational feedback into specifications, standards, designs, and deployment processes.
  • Establish quality metrics, vendor accountability measures, and feedback mechanisms that improve consistency and scalability across deployments.
What you'll bring:
  • Experience with complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure, construction, installation, commissioning, or operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, equipment requirements, scopes of work, and technical standards.
  • Experience developing or enforcing installation, quality, inspection, commissioning, or operational-readiness requirements.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, equipment vendors, engineering partners, and technical teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% to active deployment sites.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
