Job description

We are currently seeking a Solar Programs, Senior Project Manager - Consumer Protection (Compliance) to join our Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) Department. As a member of the DERs Department, you will assist with driving customer participation in programs that incentivize the adoption of distributed and community solar. Solar energy is critical in driving our nation’s progress toward a decarbonized grid, and you will play a material role in helping our team make this future a reality.   

This position will report to the Senior Manager of the Consumer Protection team and will support our work as the Program Administrator for Illinois Shines. Illinois Shines is the statewide incentive program aimed at assisting people across Illinois to more affordably transition to solar power. To meet Illinois’ goal of having 100% of its energy come from renewable energy sources by 2050, it is imperative that consumers’ rights are protected when working with companies registered with the Program. Come help our dedicated team with this important role in the clean energy transition!      

Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Investigating alleged violations of Illinois Shines program requirements Making recommendations for informal mediation, potential pre-disciplinary and disciplinary action for apparent and/or confirmed Program violations based upon Program requirements 
  • Timely drafting letters to entities alleged or confirmed to have violated Program requirements, consistent with standard operating procedures   
  • Editing letters and disciplinary-related correspondence by other team members to ensure compliance with internal standard operating procedures and client expectations 
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, ensuring the Consumer Protection team follows its internal processes for disciplinary action, and proactively identifying process improvements 
  • Identifying, drafting, and training team members on new procedures for disciplinary-related process improvements 
  • Identifying trends in consumer complaints and Program violations; recommending potential proactive measures to help promote Program compliance and reduce consumer protection violations; monitoring corrective actions and compliance plans for entities confirmed to have violated Program requirements 
  • Maintaining client relationships, serving as a trusted partner for our current and new clients  
  • Organizing and leading in-person meetings, conference calls, and collaboration sessions with client as well as program participants and customers 
  • Tracking deliverables, milestones, and following up with stakeholders and team members to ensure they are on task to complete action items 
  • Tracking key performance metrics and goals 
  • Participating in and leading cross-department meetings and discussion, prioritizing and delegating follow-up items, tracking and reporting progress 
  • Effectively prioritizing and managing additional ad-hoc requests and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

Minimum qualifications:  

  • A bachelor’s degree 
  • A minimum of 8 years\' of relevant work experience in compliance, consumer protection, legal/paralegal, regulatory, auditing and/or quality control  
  • Strong written communication skills including editing/reviewing team members’ work  
  • Ability to train staff on professional writing  
  • Exceptional attention to detail in written deliverables  
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and to serve as the primary point of client contact 
  • Demonstrated outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, including risk management and mitigation 
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office (Office365, SharePoint, OneNote)
  • A one page cover letter will be required explaining your interest in the company and the role (the use of AI is prohibited in the drafting) 

Desired qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of solar policies, terminology, and programs 
  • Experience with Salesforce 

The salary range for this role is $92,000–$125,000/annually with a target compensation of $92,000 - $106,250/annually based on experience and qualifications

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
