Job description

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Culture

  • Serve as the on-site HSE leader and trusted advisor to leaders and employees
  • Champion a proactive safety culture focused on hazard prevention
  • Support leaders in driving accountability for safety performance

Program Management & Improvement

  • Implement and sustain HSE programs and systems
  • Analyze trends and drive targeted improvement initiatives
  • Lead site-level safety initiatives aligned with company goals

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS and environmental regulations
  • Maintain documentation and complete required reporting
  • Act as the site contact for inspections and regulatory agencies

Incident & Risk Management

  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Track trends and implement corrective actions
  • Oversee site inspections, audits, and hazard mitigation

Training & Engagement

  • Ensure proper onboarding and ongoing HSE training
  • Lead safety meetings and promote workforce engagement

Collaboration

  • Work cross-site with U.S. operations to align best practices
  • Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives


What You Bring

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of HSE experience in industrial, mining, or heavy operations, preferred
  • Site-based leadership experience strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Alberta safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience with incident investigations and safety systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • CRSP or similar certification is an asset


Work Environment
  • Combination of office and industrial site environment
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, equipment, and physical activity
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the role
