As a member of our Credits, Incentives and Methods - Energy and Excise team, you will advise clients who are developing innovative clean energy projects and advise them on implementation of the provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. You will also work on excise tax technical issues and controversy matters. Background in energy industry is highly desirable
Candidate Responsibilities
  • Part of a collaborative team advising clients on federal energy credits and excise tax issues.

  • Research, address, and consult on technical issues.

  • Prepare/review credit computations, workpapers, tax opinions, and supporting materials for energy and excise taxes and clean energy incentives.

  • Understand credit utilization issues including general business credit limitation, other limitations, and risk limitations.

  • Understand preparation programs and processes; train staff on programs and processes to produce accurate output.

  • Serve as in-charge on projects; oversee day-to-day tasks, delegate to staff, and coordinate with clients.

  • Analyze and understand the materiality and risk of a problem/issue and discuss solutions and implications with manager/partner.

  • Use experience and knowledge of industry trends to identify opportunities to extend additional tax services and work with others on the team to present and deliver to clients.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficient in creating Pivot Tables and other relevant advanced Excel functions where specialization deems appropriate

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university

  • Will have completed all educational requirements for CPA licensure eligibility in the state in which you'll reside or completed all requirements to sit for the Bar exam, by start date

  • Minimum four years of tax experience

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards

  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means

  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast paced, client service environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment

  • Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours including the ability to regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation

  • Ability to work extended and/or non standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs

  • An active accreditation obtained, in process or willing and able to obtain one of the following: CPA, EA, licensed attorney, or one of the alternative certifications that meets RSM requirements certifications

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $86,500 - $164,500
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
