Job description

We are currently seeking a full-time Energy Modeler to be an integral member of the Energy, Asset Management + Sustainability team in our Raleigh, Richmond, or Charlotte office. 
As an Energy Modeler, you’ll create detailed energy models for a variety of project types, assist with energy programs and certifications such as LEED, engage with project teams and clients, and help maintain the firm’s reference materials and institutional knowledgebase. Internally you’ll promote sustainability initiatives, develop energy policies, and provide support and resources for project architects and engineers.
Location: Raleigh, NC (27603), Richmond, VA (23230), or Charlotte, NC (28277)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in design or construction industries preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Create detailed energy models for various building types, including but not limited to civic, justice, education, multi-family, and senior living facilities
  • Utilize energy models to assist with design sustainability and decarbonization goals, including certification programs such as LEED, ENERGY STAR, and Green Globes
  • Support design teams in comparing various building systems and their impact on building energy consumption
  • Assist with energy programs, such as ENERGY STAR, Duke Energy/Wildan, and 179D Energy Efficient Commercial Building Tax Deduction Forms as requested by Project Managers
  • Gather project energy, water, and post-occupancy data, and assist with reporting for firm tracking, AIA 2030, and MEP 2040
  • Facilitate Energy Audits and related documentation
  • Develop tools and templates to optimize energy modeling
  • Maintain and improve organization of reference materials for ease of access
  • Coordinate with client services to provide information for project sheets and keep current
  • Promote firmwide awareness of environmental issues and initiatives

Required Skills:
  • Capable of working in a collaborative team environment to meet specific deadlines
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient knowledge of energy modeling and complex reporting
Software Proficiencies:
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required
  • Energy modeling experience with Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, and/or Trane 3D preferred
Compensation: $70,000-$85,000. Annual salary is commensurate with education & experience.
