Job description

Position summary: Aligns all strategic marketing, business development, and client engagement activities including development of strategic pursuit capture plan and implementation of pre-proposal strategic positioning efforts. Works with Business Line Leader to implement the strategic plan across JMT’s footprint. Responsible for coordinating with regional Pursuit Managers in support of marketing and strategic opportunities.  Primary focus will be on water and environmental markets and services along with energy utilities.

This role directly influences JMT’s growth by translating business line strategy into focused market positioning, client engagement, and winning pursuits across the Water, Energy & Environment markets. The position serves as a critical bridge between technical leadership, business development, and marketing execution, aligning firmwide resources around priority clients and opportunities. Ultimately, this role helps JMT strengthen market presence, build long-term client relationships, and deliver sustained, profitable growth.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Focus on Markets and Service Lines within the Water, Energy & Environment Business Line, including: Water/Wastewater; Water Resources; Natural & Cultural Resources; Resilience and Coastal Solutions; Ecological Restoration; Stream and Wetland Mitigation Banking; Energy Utilities
  • Conduct market research and capture planning. Lead regularly scheduled meetings to discuss with market/service leaders
  • Work with market/service leaders to implement strategic plans; participate in strategy and operations meetings
  • Coordinate client engagement
  • Brand reinforcement
  • Work with the communications team on a strategy for the business line
  • Enforce strategic plan alignment with pursuits; work with Pursuit Managers on strategic pursuits
  • Develop and implement a conference plan for the business line to include attendance, sponsorship, and SME presenting. Work with the Conference and Events team to support these events 
  • Provide QA/QC of strategic proposals
  • Coordinate with Deputy Chief Marketing Officers on corporate-wide marketing initiatives
  • Ensure that JMT’s Quality Management System for Marketing is adhered to and perform independent audits of the state and/or region for which they are responsible

Required Skills
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communication, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in marketing, business development, and/or pursuit strategy.  Preferably within engineering, AEC, or professional services environments.
  • Knowledge of the RFP structure and proposal process
  • Familiarity with regional and industry trends
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in marketing analytics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and InDesign

Qualifications preferred

  • Experience supporting water, wastewater, environmental, or energy utility markets.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing performance metrics.
  • Recommended: Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) certification

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a general office environment. It is generally sedentary but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and noise, dust, etc., do not cause hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
