Job Description

The Energy Efficiency Adviser is responsible for outreach and education activities to promote the energyย efficiency program directed at end customers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, engineers, architects,ย and others who provide energy efficiency equipment or services.

Job Responsibilities
  • Foster relationships with trade allies to maximize the number and size of their submitted projects.
  • Develop projects directly with our client's customers.
  • Field industry events on behalf of TRC and client.
  • Learn and utilize CRM database for project and lead management.
  • Cultivate, track and manage program leads diligently.
  • Oversee projects submitted by customers/trade allies.
  • Work with an assigned Project Coordinator to help gather required information/documentation toย approve/close out a project.
  • Validate and review project workbooks to ensure technical information is entered appropriately in additionย to making adjustments based on scope changes or inspections.ย 
  • Place outbound calls to new and existing customers to meet assigned energy saving targets.
  • Manage field time effectively with customer or Trade Ally visits.
  • Develop and deliver program presentations to spur project activity.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically or in person to move projects towards completion.
  • Work with building owners, property managers and / or facility engineers to provide energy efficiencyย advice and assistance in participating in energy efficiency programs.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program's strategic direction regarding energy efficiencyย and the business activities of its customers.
  • Identify and provide documentation of on-site opportunities for energy efficiency and provide follow-up toย customers as required.
  • Discuss technical elements of energy consuming equipment-i.e., lighting, HVAC, hot water systems.
  • Enter data into spreadsheets and databases to determine energy savings and to manage current projectsย which may also include collaborating with Energy Engineers as required.
  • Maintain professional appearance appropriate for a representative of our organization and the utility.
  • Build quick rapport with customers or trade allies. Quickly initiate conversations with customers on siteย regarding energy usage at the facility.
  • When required, provide written summary reports directly to the customer, and summary reports to theย client/Program Manager.
  • Be able to work in a team atmosphere, and willing to collaborate on continuous improvement of operationsย year after year
Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. in Business or Technical field or 5+ years' experience in sales, account management, or similar roles.
  • 1+ years' experience working with energy efficiency or energy efficient products with a utility, government,ย 
    non-profit or public agency.
  • Ability to decipher technical jargon and effectively communicate those terms to individuals of varying skill levels.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of clients and suppliers.
  • Highly-polished communication skills-written and oral.
  • Ability to transition quickly between tasks.
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, occasional overnight.
  • Site visits will require physical activity for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, standing,ย walking with occasional, climbing, kneeling, and related field work as required. Field work may requireย exposure to in indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This may or may not include extremeย temperatures.
  • Follow safety and health policies for site visits.
  • Will travel within Client's territory and must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Responsible for maintenance and fees of the transportation vehicle.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or equivalent.
  • Certified Energy Auditor (Commercial) designation.
  • Experience in Commercial or Industrial energy efficiency, technical sales, B2B, or construction industry sales.ย
