Job Summary
Under the Supervisor of the Director, the Surgical Technician assists in the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in creating and maintaining a sterile field and issuing instruments to surgeons. The surgical technician scrubs for surgical procedures for geriatric, adult and adolescent, and pediatric patients. Cleans instruments and rooms, picks cases, monitors inventory and stocks OR rooms. May provide assistance to GI Lab and Endoscopy Lab in the performance of Endoscopy and GI Procedures. The Surgical Technician also provides care based on the age-related need of the pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric and trauma patient with consideration of their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style and level of understanding. The Surgical Technician functions within their scope of practice. The Surgical Technician occasionally makes independent decisions within clear and established guidelines, standards and/or procedures. The Surgical Technician is responsible for the safe handling of medications on the surgical sterile field under the direction of the Physician and RN Circulator.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement:
Completion of an accredited program or formal structured program (i.e., military service) or Nursing degree (LVN/LPN) from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
A minimum of one year post program experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting with similar patient case load required. Excellent customer service skills.
Minimum License Requirement:
Certified Surgical Technician or California LVN license preferred. BLS required.

Pay Range:
$28.14 - $42.21
