What is an endoscopy assistant?

Endoscopy Assistants are healthcare professionals who support doctors and nurses during endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies. Their duties typically include preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting the medical team during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and following strict infection control protocols. They play an essential role in the smooth operation of the endoscopy suite and help ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an endoscopy assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Endoscopy Assistant, you need a solid understanding of medical terminology, infection control practices, and endoscopic procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or healthcare certification.
