What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer who will own the end-to-end user experience across Makeship's platform, crafting intuitive, valuable, and visually engaging digital experiences for both our creators and their fans. Balancing deep UX and UI craft, you drive the direction of our platform's functionality and design and ensure its continuous improvement. Working within a cross-functional team, you play a critical role across the full product development cycle, from problem discovery and solution design to validation and final execution, ensuring every user interaction is seamless, impactful, and aligned with Makeship's mission.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Tackle multi-faceted user problems, using a vast UX toolkit to quickly diverge and converge on solutions
  • Design interfaces with an exceptional level of polish, basing decisions around layout, hierarchy, typography, colour, and motion on strong rationale
  • Proactively build, maintain, and scale our design system as the platform and team grow
  • Leverage a wide array of research and design frameworks to deepen our understanding of our creators and fans, applying these insights to create valuable experiences for them
  • Lead user testing to validate critical assumptions we have about our users and designs, and drive ongoing usability tracking
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and marketing across the product development cycle, facilitating collaboration both within and across teams
  • Proactively advance our design practice and champion design thinking across the organization
  • Mentor and lead training opportunities for other team members as our design practice grows


What You Bring

  • 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design ownership of solutions to complex user problems
  • Experience with a vast array of techniques to better understand users and validate assumptions (e.g. user journey mapping, JTBD / personas, user interviews, assumption testing, usability testing)
  • Proven experience building and evolving a design system
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
  • Comfort holding broad ownership over a platform's user experience, with a systems-thinking mindset
  • Thrives with high autonomy in a fast-moving environment, comfortable making quick, well-reasoned calls and adapting as you learn


Bonus

  • Experience designing for a two-sided marketplace or platform serving multiple distinct user types
  • Experience in e-commerce, the creator economy, or crowdfunding
