Cloud Services Engineer (VMware Cloud Foundation)
Hybrid (Must reside within 90 minutes of DISA sites: Mechanicsburg, PA; Ogden, UT; Oklahoma City, OK; Montgomery, AL)
Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required
Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Services Engineer to support secure, mission-critical infrastructure within a federal environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in virtualization, software-defined networking, and hybrid cloud solutions-particularly within VMware ecosystems.

You will play a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure aligned with federal compliance standards, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments
  • Administer and maintain VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA, DRS)
  • Implement and support software-defined networking (SDN) solutions
  • Architect and manage hybrid cloud environments integrating on-prem and public cloud platforms
  • Integrate and manage Key Management Systems (KMS) for secure encryption
  • Ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and other federal security standards
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and network issues across enterprise systems
  • Perform lifecycle management (patching, upgrades, capacity planning)
  • Automate deployments using tools such as PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, or similar
  • Collaborate with security teams, architects, and stakeholders to deliver resilient solutions
  • Maintain detailed documentation to support audits and operational readiness

Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance (must be maintainable)
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or virtualization engineering
  • Strong experience with VMware platforms, including VCF
  • Hands-on experience with SDN technologies
  • Experience with KMS or encryption key management solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls; BGP/OSPF preferred)
  • Experience supporting federal, DoD, or regulated environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • VMware certifications (e.g., VCP-DCV)
  • Experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or VMware Cloud solutions
  • Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP)
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell or Python
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures
  • Experience in consulting or client-facing environments
Work Environment & Travel
  • Hybrid role (approximately 25% onsite at DISA locations)
  • Local travel to DISA sites as needed
  • Flexibility required for onsite support and collaboration
