The Broadcast Technology Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, support, and continuous improvement of critical broadcast, production, newsroom, master control, RF, IP, and media technology systems. This role serves as a senior technical resource for integrating traditional broadcast infrastructure with IT, network, automation, cloud, and file-based media workflows. The position helps ensure reliable on-air operations, resilient content delivery, secure technology practices, efficient workflows, and strong collaboration across Engineering, IT, News, Production, Digital, vendors, and corporate technology teams.

- Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, signal-flow diagrams, system inventories, configuration notes, standard operating procedures, and version records.
- Collaborate with end users, vendors, Engineering, IT, News, Production, Digital, and corporate technology teams to design, test, and implement workflow improvements that support reliable content creation, distribution, and live operations.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and technical staff by sharing standards, troubleshooting methods, documentation practices, and operational best practices.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience supporting broadcast engineering, media technology, production systems, master control, newsroom systems, RF, or related IT/media workflows.
- Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow, file-based workflows, IP networking, streaming, encoding/transcoding, shared storage, media asset management, automation, and content delivery systems.
- Hands-on experience with broadcast platforms such as automation, playout, NRCS, editing, graphics, media storage, transcode, streaming, monitoring, and live production systems.
- Knowledge of FCC requirements, EAS, RF systems, transmitter operations, technical compliance, and applicable broadcast industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under time-sensitive, live-broadcast conditions while communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating software, firmware, operating system updates, access controls, backups, documentation, and change-management practices in a mission-critical technology environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational discipline, attention to detail, and a customer-service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, support planned and unplanned work, participate in project execution, and remain effective in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency with standard productivity tools, technical documentation tools, remote support methods, and common operating systems used in broadcast and media environments.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud or hybrid media workflows, IP-based video transport, automation scripting, cybersecurity practices, disaster recovery planning, vendor management, mentoring, and platforms such as Avid, Telestream, Ross, Grass Valley, Harmonic, LiveU, or similar broadcast/media systems.
