The Asphalt Emulsion Chemist I is responsible for evaluating asphalt emulsions and binders for specifications and for product development/enhancement for bituminous materials used in the asphalt paving industry.Essential Functions of the Job:An Asphalt Emulsion Chemist I evaluates the properties of asphalts, emulsions, and emulsifiers to investigate their applications in the paving industry. The idea candidate possesses the ability to multitask and stay on top of issues in a deadline-driven environment. Shall display effective time management and organizational skills. The chemist must take ownership and accountability of work to ensure it is neat, clean, and accurate. Will work on projects and matters of limited complexity in a support role. The emulsion team leader and the Technical Director closely manage the work.Responsibilities include the following:Function effectively in a team environment.Qualified in all aspects of emulsion and related asphalt testing.Perform laboratory work while maintaining safety as a top priorityCommunicate with the Emulsion Team Leader and Technical Director on the status of all work in the lab.Verify lab data is accurate and questionable results are re-evaluated as needed.Review all completed paperwork for accuracy regarding data, specifications, and formulations used.
