Description
Summary
EMT for this position encompasses the following Basic, Advanced, Intermediate, and Paramedic roles. While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this key position is responsible for responding to emergency calls to provide effective and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, transporting patients to a medical facility for further care, engaging in the provision of basic life support for pre-hospital patients care and admission of patients to the emergency department. This is an "at will" position.
Job Duties
  • Work under the direction of the EMS Captain
  • Instructs EMT courses as requested by the training coordinator.
  • 'Size-up' the scene to determine that the scene is safe, the mechanism of injury or nature of illness, total number of patients and will request additional help if necessary
  • Assumes responsibility for basic or advanced life support pre-hospital care
  • Preforms skills and procedures within the scope and licensure held. Following online and off line protocols.
  • Performs procedures according to medical protocol within their individual EMT scope of practice; performs independently in situations involving Basic and/or Advanced life support activities; directs subordinates in the provision of patient care; assumes command of scenes involving multiple patients
  • Effectively determines the nature and extent of illness or injury of patient
  • Effectively communicates information to receiving facility
  • Accurately executes WATRS reports concerning patients and patients care within 2 hours
  • Attending and completing required agency training and minimum shift requirements
  • Attend a minimum of 50% offered trainings to ensure proper communication
  • After each call, restocks and replaces used supplies, clean all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures, makes careful check of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run. Maintains ambulance in efficient operating condition
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities are needed and required
  • Creates a safe traffic environment for the protection of the injured and those assisting in the care of the injured patients. Including knowledge and skill of creating a proper Landing Zone.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Abilities & Skills:
  • Possess the knowledge of the incident command system and is capable of playing an active role in said system.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Works in a confident efficient and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Analyze problems and treat patient appropriately
  • Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well, as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality I client and staff matters
  • Constant sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and typing throughout the day. Must be able to lift one hundred (100) pounds on a regular basis, lifting two hundred (200) pounds or more on occasion

Experience & Education:
  • Current Wyoming Paramedic License
  • Required Certifications BLS, ACLS, PALS, ICS100, 200, 700 and 800
  • Preferred Certifications: NRP, PHTLS
  • Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to EMS systems and operations
  • Current driver's license with clean record
