The UVM HealthNet Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) functions as an integral member of a multidisciplinary transport team, planning, providing, and evaluating direct care to patients in all states of health and wellness in the pre-hospital, intra-facility and inter-facility settings. The EMT assists with the necessary treatment and care of patients, whether ill or injured, during the transport, by ground or air ambulance, and in the pre-hospital setting or from one healthcare facility to another.
EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) required
  • Nationally Registered EMT
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
  • Relevant EMS experience with direct patient care required.
  • 6 months of emergency vehicle operation experience, strongly preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
  • National Registry EMT Certification (NREMT) (required)
  • Must obtain state certification/licensure for assigned location within 14 days of start
  • Must obtain additional state certification/licensure within 1 year of hire as explained below
  • If an employee is assigned to a Vermont location, they must obtain a Vermont Office of Emergency Medical Services EMT Licensure within 14 days of start. They must also obtain a New York Emergency Medical Services EMT Certification within 1 year of hire
  • If an employee is assigned to a New York location, they must obtain a New York Emergency Medical Services EMT Certification within 14 days of start. They must also obtain a Vermont Office of Emergency Medical Services EMT Licensure within 1 year of hire
