Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and motivated Medical Assistant to support our providers in delivering exceptional patient care. In this role, you'll work directly with patients, assist with clinical procedures, support care coordination, and help create a positive healthcare experience every day.

What You'll Do:

  • Welcome and prepare patients for appointments.
  • Collect and document patient histories, vital signs, and health information.
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, testing, and specimen collection.
  • Administer medications and perform diagnostic testing as directed.
  • Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients.
  • Provide patient and family education to support better health outcomes.
  • Coordinate care and serve as a liaison between patients and providers.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and disease management programs.

General Requirements:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved:

  • MA program and MA Externship;
  • MA Internship;
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program;
  • Paramedic program; or
  • Certified Athletic Trainer.

If credentialed, maintains current MA Re-Certification CEUs.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE:

MA-Non-Credentialed I: MA eligible to attain Medical Assistant Certification is desired, or EMT with current/active license in the State of Michigan, or Paramedic following successful completion of the National Registry Paramedic Exam and/or holds a current/active license in the State of Michigan. Valid CPR certification.

MA-Credentialed I: Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 0-1 year previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years' clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.
