Job description

Copper Island Academy is seeking Part Time JV Volleyball Coach to join our outstanding educational team.

Copper Island Academy is a newly authorized public school academy in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan located in Calumet. Our mission is to prepare all students for college, work, and life success through the implementation of highly effective Finnish education practices while embracing traditional American ideals.

Our paraprofessionals are integral in supporting classroom teachers and students to implement school programs in a positive learning environment.

Copper Island Academy is seeking a dedicated Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach to lead and mentor our student-athletes. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the field, supporting their growth through positive coaching, teamwork, and a focus on character.

We coach the whole athlete, preparing students for success beyond the scoreboard.

Position Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead practices, beginning August 10, 2026
  • Teach fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork and build our HS program
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of student-athletes during practices and competitions
  • Promote academic and personal development consistent with school values
  • Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school personnel

Qualifications

  • Prior coaching or playing experience (preferably volleyball)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead youth
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
