Job description

Title: Family Room Associate


Reports To:Family Room Manager


Purpose:The Family Room Associate works in coordination with the Family Room Manager to provide coverage in the Ronald McDonald House Southeastern MN & Western WI Family Room located within the Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus. The Family Room Associate will work with the Family Room Manager to ensure there is coverage (staff or volunteer) in the Family Room during operating hours, Monday - Friday, 7am-8pm and Saturday - Sunday, 8am-8pm. They register families, check families in and out of the Family Room and maintain the space.


Hours: Shifts vary in week; Friday 4pm-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 2pm-8pm (assist with Holiday and vacation coverage, occasional weekday coverage)


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to Family Room policies and procedures
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to guest families while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Adhere to Ronald McDonald House and/or partnering hospital emergency policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Engage and communicate with patients and families, offering ongoing support as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality while serving as the point of contact for all guests
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation for guests
  • Provide staffing support when volunteers are unavailable
  • Check supplies and restock as needed. This may include going to the Ronald McDonald House and bringing items to the Family Room.
  • Raise awareness of the Family Room and House programs
  • Building relationships with volunteers


Knowledge, Skills and General Competencies:

  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality with a calm professional manner
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with families, staff and volunteers.
  • Self-directed and motivated


Qualifications:

  • High school degree preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Ability to work independently


Working Conditions:

  • Position is part-time evening, weekends and holidays. Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed, according to the needs of the organization
  • Position requires walking, standing, and sitting. Some lifting may be required
  • Ability to access all areas of the House and grounds, including going up and down stairs
  • Limited travel for House, community, volunteer recruitment and ambassador events
  • Potential limited travel for regional and/or national conferences, professional development on occasion
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, storage areas, conference room, etc.
