Lead One of Connecticut's Premier Emergency Departments

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager to lead our high-performing Emergency Department. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a passionate nursing professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, supporting clinical excellence, and developing high-performing teams.

As a Nurse Manager, you will play a critical role in driving operational success, fostering staff engagement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing patient outcomes within one of the region's leading healthcare organizations.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department.

  • Lead staffing, recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management initiatives.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative culture that supports employee engagement and professional development.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and patient safety standards, including DPH and The Joint Commission requirements.

  • Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to promote high-quality, patient-centered care and exceptional clinical outcomes.

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, patient experience strategies, and department performance goals.

  • Manage departmental operations, resources, and workflow to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.

  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, compassion, and excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.

  • Active and unrestricted Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Proven nursing leadership experience in an Emergency Department setting, including roles such as:

    • Nurse Manager

    • Assistant Nurse Manager

    • Comparable Emergency Department leadership positions

  • Strong preference for current or recent experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve operational performance, and drive patient care excellence.

Preferred

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

  • Five (5) or more years of combined Emergency Department clinical and leadership experience.

  • Charge Nurse experience with significant responsibility for staff coordination, patient flow, clinical oversight, and operational leadership.

  • TNCC certification strongly preferred.

Salary Range: $100,776 - $161,200

Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and qualifications. As an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), pay will be provided as a salary equivalent within the stated range. Compensation may vary based on experience and internal equity considerations.
