Job description

Duties * You will respond to emergencies as a member of an Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, Hazardous Materials Team and /or Rescue Team. * You will perform thorough safety and maintenance inspections on emergency transport vehicles. * You will participate in daily training and instruction classes covering all phases of fire protection, fire prevention and emergency medical services.

* You will respond as a member of an emergency response company and perform assigned tasks during ambulance/ rescue responses. * You will be periodically assigned to standby duties at the scene of hazardous operations. * You will prioritize treatment for patients having multiple problems and employ a variety of established emergency medical/medicine techniques, methods, and equipment to intervene on the patient's behalf.

* You will report in a clear/concise manner, orally or in writing, what injuries were identifies and what care was administered at the scene or in transit. * You will decontaminate vehicle and equipment as directed by protocols. * You will conduct a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of their condition and search for medical alert symbols.

* You will participate and lead classes on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other topic areas for Emergency Medical Technician. Requirements Conditions of employment * Must be a US Citizen. * Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. * This position has a maximum entry age of 37. Candidates that will be older than 37 at the time of appointment will require an age waiver.

* You must posess or be able to obtain a valid State of California or equivalent driver's license with a Firefighter Endorsement within (30) days of appointment. * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or SECRET final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. * You must obtain and maintain, certification in accordance with American Heart Association and Military Training Network: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Instructor (CPR and ARD Programs).

* You must obtain and maintain a valid Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) license with 60 days of employment * You must obtain and maintain EMT-P accreditation through the Inland County Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) within 60 days of employment and adhere to basic scope of practice standards as defined in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations. * You must obtain and maintain current Advanced Cardiovascualr Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Firefight I, II, DPO Driver, HAzmat Operations, NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800. * This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.

Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a Firefighter AND Paramedic performing and providing structural and wild land firefighting, emergency medical response and treatment (e.g., Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); advanced life support (ALS); airway management, emergency childbirth), rescue operations (e.g., high and low angle rescue, trench confined space rescue, auto extrication), hazardous materials response and transporting emergency personnel and patients safely to emergency room.

This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
