Job description

We are hiring for up to four Internship openings.

The company invests in electricity generation, transmission and distribution, as well as gas transmission and utility energy services with a strategic focus on transformation from high carbon to low carbon energy sources. Emera has investments throughout North America and in four Caribbean countries.

The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

Position Summary/Details:

Responsibilities include gathering and compiling asset data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness for analysis.  Additionally, responsibilities include coordinating project timelines, analyzing data to drive strategic decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success by leveraging data insights for actionable results.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the Electrical System Reliability (ESR) team with developing, maintaining, modifying asset monitoring plan databases, and maintenance strategies.
  • Support the NERC Compliance team with updates, reviews and coordinating various deliverables and activities with Operating areas.
  • Support the development project plans, roadmaps and process flows.
  • Support the ESR team with various administrative activities including work management, and procurement.
  • Support the ESR team with the development and execution of process improvement initiatives using software tools.

 

Physical Location of Co-op: Big Bend Power Station 13031 Wyandotte Road, Gibsonton FL 33534

Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment, a successful candidate will visit the field approximately weekly. This will include riding in a company vehicle on-road and off-road, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering substations.

Preferred Availability: Part - Time (30 – 40 hours)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Degree: Currently pursuing one of the following: Engineering, Business, Economics, Computer Science, IT or related.

Year in School: Junior or Senior

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Microsoft Suite Applications (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Power BI/Tableau or equivalent
