What is an EMEA Sales Manager?

An EMEA Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing and driving sales operations across the EMEA region, which includes Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This role typically involves developing sales strategies, managing a team of sales professionals, building relationships with key clients, and ensuring sales targets are met within these diverse markets. EMEA Sales Managers must be knowledgeable about regional market trends, cultural differences, and legal requirements to effectively lead their teams and grow business. They often coordinate with global headquarters to align regional efforts with overall company goals.

How does an EMEA Sales Manager typically collaborate with regional teams to meet sales targets across diverse markets?

An EMEA Sales Manager works closely with local sales teams, marketing, and product management across different countries to tailor strategies that suit each market’s unique demands. This often involves coordinating regular meetings, sharing best practices, and ensuring alignment on goals and messaging. Managing time zones, cultural differences, and varying market maturity levels can be challenging, but effective communication and adaptability help drive consistent results. Collaboration is key to leveraging local insights while maintaining overall regional objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EMEA Sales Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EMEA Sales Manager, you need strong sales expertise, regional market knowledge, and a relevant degree, often in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, data analysis tools, and proficiency in multiple European languages are highly valuable. Exceptional communication, leadership, and cross-cultural negotiation skills set outstanding candidates apart. These competencies are crucial for effectively leading diverse teams, driving revenue growth, and successfully navigating complex, multi-country sales environments.

Job description

The Role

Gradial is hiring an RVP of Sales, EMEA to establish and scale our commercial presence across the region. You'll own the EMEA sales strategy, build relationships with leading enterprise marketing organisations and create the foundation for durable regional growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced enterprise seller who can build a market while closing complex strategic deals. You'll begin as an individual contributor, owning priority opportunities from first conversation through contract execution and setting the standard for how Gradial sells across EMEA.

You'll report directly to the CRO and serve as Gradial's senior sales leader in the region. As the business grows, you'll define the regional operating model, hire and develop the EMEA sales team and assume broader responsibility for revenue performance across all EMEA markets.

What You'll Own
  • Define and execute Gradial's sales strategy across all EMEA markets

  • Own regional new business performance, pipeline development and revenue growth

  • Build and manage a pipeline of net new enterprise and strategic accounts

  • Lead complex sales cycles from initial outreach and discovery through negotiation and close

  • Develop trusted relationships with senior Marketing, Digital, Marketing Operations, Marketing Technology and Procurement leaders

  • Translate Gradial's AI-powered capabilities into clear commercial value for complex enterprise organisations

  • Build account strategies that navigate regional decision-makers, global stakeholders and multi-market buying processes

  • Partner with US account teams to identify expansion opportunities within the EMEA operations of existing customers

  • Establish Gradial's regional presence through executive relationships, industry networks, partnerships and strategic events

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product and Customer teams to shape regional messaging, customer strategy and market priorities

  • Share customer insight, market feedback and competitive intelligence to inform Gradial's broader go-to-market strategy

  • Build the forecasting discipline, sales processes, territory structure and operating cadence required to scale across EMEA

  • Define the regional hiring plan and recruit the sales team as pipeline and market demand grow

  • Lead, coach and develop the EMEA sales organisation while maintaining a high standard for execution and accountability

What We Need
  • 12+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS, marketing technology or a related technology sales environment

  • A strong record of winning complex, net new enterprise and strategic accounts across EMEA

  • Experience owning a regional sales strategy, revenue target or multi-market commercial plan

  • Experience selling to senior Marketing, Digital, Technology and Procurement stakeholders

  • Deep knowledge of the EMEA enterprise market and strong relationships across relevant customer and industry networks

  • Experience establishing a new region, territory or go-to-market motion with limited existing infrastructure

  • Strong understanding of marketing technology platforms, content operations or enterprise marketing workflows

  • Ability to communicate the value of AI and technical product capabilities in clear commercial terms

  • Experience navigating long sales cycles, global buying committees and complex enterprise contracting processes

  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to prioritise across markets, accounts and opportunities

  • A hands-on approach to pipeline creation, account development and deal execution

  • Experience building sales processes, forecasting accurately and creating regional operating discipline

  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with US-based leadership and cross-functional teams

  • Motivation to begin as an individual contributor before hiring and leading a regional sales organisation

  • Based in London with flexibility to travel across EMEA and to the US as business needs require

Nice to Have
  • Experience selling AI-native products or emerging enterprise technology

  • Previous experience building and leading an early-stage EMEA sales organisation

  • Fluency in one or more European languages
