This position offers the opportunity to deepen EMC and RF expertise while working with advanced ADAS hardware, including electric steering and electric brake system modules.

Responsibilities

  • Perform RF immunity and emission testing in accordance with international automotive EMC standards and detailed test procedures.
  • Review test plans and specifications prior to testing to ensure clarity, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Develop and refine test plans, including test planning and specification development, to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Write clear, detailed technical reports that document test setups, procedures, results, and conclusions.
  • Communicate test results and technical findings to customers both orally and in writing, providing recommendations for compliance and certification.
  • Work closely with Account Executives and Customer Service Administrators to determine customer testing requirements and associated charges for tests and related services.
  • Manage customer projects from initiation through completion, including gathering pre-test information, clarifying technical requirements, and addressing customer questions about upcoming projects.
  • Coordinate and issue work to any subcontractors involved in test projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EMC design theory, including shielding, filtering, grounding, bonding, cabling, gasketing, waveguides, and printed circuit board layout methods.
  • Operate and maintain test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, EMC receivers, preamplifiers, quasi-peak adapters, signal and impulse generators, antennas, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ensure all test equipment remains properly calibrated and in good working order, and follow proper operational procedures at all times.
  • Stay current with EMC standards, test procedures, instrumentation, and engineering service capabilities through internal training, external seminars, and review of technical literature.
  • Communicate courteously and effectively with internal and external customers, answering questions, relaying messages, and providing information on standards, test procedures, and technical recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance on compliance and certification requirements related to EMC and RF testing.
  • Perform additional tasks related to EMC testing and engineering support as assigned by leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with EMC and RF testing, including RF immunity and emission testing for electronic systems.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes and multimeters in the context of EMC and RF testing.
  • Ability to develop, review, and execute detailed test plans and specifications.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including use of CAN tools for signal monitoring and interpreting test results.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication networks, particularly CAN, to understand interactions between modules such as electric steering and electric brake systems.
  • Working knowledge of EMC design principles, including shielding, filtering, grounding, bonding, cabling, gasketing, waveguides, and printed circuit board layout methods.
  • Experience operating EMC test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, EMC receivers, preamplifiers, quasi-peak adapters, signal and impulse generators, antennas, and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to ensure and verify proper calibration and functioning of test equipment.
  • Strong written communication skills for preparing technical reports and documentation.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams about standards, procedures, and technical issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Experience collaborating with customer service and account management teams to define test scopes and pricing.
  • Exposure to project management activities such as coordinating subcontractors and managing multiple customer projects.
  • Participation in internal training sessions, external seminars, or self-study to stay current with EMC standards and technology.
  • General bachelor’s degree qualification, with preference for electrical or computer engineering disciplines.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in a laboratory and test facility environment. The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule, working five days per week from 15:00 to 23:00. You will work with a variety of EMC and RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, EMC receivers, preamplifiers, quasi-peak adapters, signal and impulse generators, antennas, oscilloscopes, and related instrumentation. The environment involves hands-on interaction with automotive electronic modules, including ADAS hardware for electric steering and electric brake systems, and frequent use of CAN tools for signal monitoring.
