Both roles require specialized training and certifications, often within the same clinical settings, making them closely related but distinct career paths.

How hard is it to get a job as an embryologist?

Securing an embryologist position typically requires a relevant degree in biology, reproductive science, or a related field, along with laboratory experience and certification such as the ASRM or ESHRE. Competition can be moderate to high due to specialized skills and limited openings, but strong educational background and hands-on experience improve job prospects.

Is there a demand for embryologist positions?

There is a steady demand for embryologists due to ongoing advancements in reproductive medicine and fertility treatments. Employment opportunities are available in hospitals, fertility clinics, and research institutions, often requiring specialized training and certification. The field is expected to grow as infertility treatments become more common and technology advances.

Where do embryologists make the most money?

Embryologists tend to earn higher salaries in regions with a higher cost of living and greater demand for fertility services, such as major metropolitan areas. Salaries can also vary based on experience, certifications, and the type of employer, with private clinics often offering higher compensation than academic or hospital settings.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of andrology and embryology procedures essential to successful IVF treatments. This role requires both technical expertise and strong organizational skills to manage patient cycles, laboratory documentation, and daily lab operations.

What You'll Do

  • Load embryos into a catheter, assisting the physician with handling and positioning as needed.
  • Conduct daily assessments of patient embryos using an inverted microscope.
  • Perform oocyte microinjection with micromanipulators and pipettes.
  • Use medical-grade laser technology to perform zona ablation on oocytes and embryos.
  • Carefully remove cells from embryos using laser technology and micromanipulators, transferring biopsied cells with sterile technique.
  • Execute freezing and thawing processes for surplus oocytes and embryos.
  • Label and prepare culture dishes with sterile technique for next-day procedures.
  • Stock supplies, perform quality control tests, maintain lab equipment, and monitor liquid nitrogen storage.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for a detail-oriented, technically skilled embryologist who thrives in a collaborative clinical environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with Technical Supervisor (ABB) certification, or a Master's degree in Biological Sciences.
  • Florida Medical Technology licensure/certificate required. All applicants must satisfy the requirements for High Complexity Testing under CLIA Amendments, 42 C.F.R. §493.1489, as adopted by the Florida Department of Health.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a team-based environment.
Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with participation in a weekend and holiday rotation. Day shifts; on-site at the NewLIFE IVF Laboratory in Pensacola, FL.

At NewLIFE, every role contributes directly to transforming patients' lives through cutting-edge fertility care.
